· Organizers: VO2MAX Specialized Outdoor Gear (Maxime Chaya).

· Supervision: The VO2MAX challenge will count as the National Mountain Biking Championship, and will be supervised by the Lebanese Cycling Federation. After the last race the overall winners will be crowned at the closing ceremony and their diplomas, as Lebanese Mountain Bike Champions will be handed to them.

· Categories: Midgets: Boys and girls under 10. Benjamins: Boys and girls between 10 and 14. Juniors: Boys under 18 Women: Girls over 14, and women of all ages. Men: Men of 18 or more (All ages based on the date of the 1st race of the VO2MAX Challenge).

· Distances: 3 to 30 km per race off-road (very little or no asphalt) depending on age, category, and terrain.

· Ascent/Descent: 35m to 350m of positive ascent (and descent) depending on age, category, and terrain.

· Type of races: All cross-country (total vertical ascent equal to total vertical descent) may have one downhill (start line well above the finish line).

· Dates: The VO2MAX Challenge will take place only on Sundays, most of which during the month of July.

· Venues: Typical Lebanese villages will be chosen as venues. Examples are Faqra, Kanat-Bakiche, Afka/Mnaitra, Faraya/Mzaar, and Zaarour.

· Environment: After each set of races is completed, and before leaving the venue, VO2MAX will make sure that the environment will be cleaner than before the start. A special VO2MAX team will scan the area and will pick up any non-biodegradable object found on the ground, be it something theVO2MAX participants and spectators may have left behind or something that was already there.

· Participants' nationalities: Lebanese of all ages. Foreign participants are most welcome and will be classified per individual race only, no overall standing points and no championship standings will be awarded to them. (Pls. see rules and regulations)

· Points System: All finishers within 150% of the category winners' time will be awarded points at each race they participate
in. The points awarded are based on the French Cycling Federation's points system, which takes into considerationthe number of seconds each participant came behind the winner of the category, with the top 3 finishers being awarded bonus points. All participants who finish outside 150% of the category winner's time as well as those who do not finish at all will be awarded a certain number of points for having taken the start. After the last race, all the results are added up for each participant except his (or her) worst result, thereby determining the overall ranking in each category.
Race #2 : Deir el Quamar. Racing along
through the woods.
